This objectives of this research aimed to survey problems and to design a model then try out and evaluate the model for developing youths’ morality and ethic in Loei Province. This research is a qualitative research conducted by integrating folk literatures and local media as tools to design the model for moral and ethics development. Research instruments comprised an in-depth interview with the sample group along with an observation and a structured evaluation form; and descriptive analysis was implemented for data presentation.
The results of the research revealed that there were 12 problems specified by youths and the problems were composed in an open-ended questionnaire to obtain the data regarding the frequency of the problems from 100 informants who were the target group. The first 3 problems were truancy behavior, drop out, games addiction, gambling and drugs. According to the open-ended interview regarding the selection of model or activity for different education levels, it was found out that elementary used tiny books (moral tales), secondary used videos and higher education used performing arts as models for developing morality and ethic. The evaluation result showed that the aspect of implementation for developing youths’ morality and ethic was scored the highest, averagely 4.52 and at 90.47percent, following by videos in which the average score was 4.40 and at 87.90 percent.
The satisfaction with the model for developing morals and ethics was scored the highest level, averagely 4.40 and at 87.90 percent. The aspect scored the highest was the video provided knowledge of morals and ethics which can be practically applied, averagely 4.48 and at 89.60percent, following by the content of the video was easy to understand, averagely 4.41 and at 88.20 percent, and the content of the video was up-to-date, averagely 4.30 and at 86.00 percent.
