The objectives of this research were to: study the situation of drug management and nursing
room services in schools, compare teachers' knowledge about nursing room services in schools before and
after join the program, and compare the average scores of the standard of the medicine cabinet standards
according to the standard of the medicine cabinets according to the 1st visit and 2nd visit, schools under
the Khon Kaen Municipality, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The population was 11 schools and the sample was 30
school nurse teachers, selected by specific method. Data were collected using questionnaires interviewing
and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Paired – Sample T-Test.
The research found that more than half of the schools were Opportunity expansion school. All
school has received training, knowledge training on first aid and medicine knowledge. Most of the teachers
did not stay in the nursing room all day. (81.82%), funds for supporting drugs and medical supplies are
received from the school (45.46%) and the Department of Local Administration (45.46%) and more than
half did not encounter problems in providing services in the nursing room (63.64%). In addition, the
problems encountered in the nursing room teachers' performance were the teachers had a high workload
(36.36%). Knowledge score about medication use and nursing room service before and after joining the
program, most of them had moderate knowledge (83.33% and 76.67% respectively). When comparing the
differences of the results of the before and after the knowledge test showed that the mean score of
knowledge after training was 15.77 (SD = 1.31) more than the average score before training was 14.00 (SD
=1.86).
The comparison test of knowledge scores before and after the training (t = 6.55, p < .001), and the
standard medicine cabinet and nursing room in schools, from the 1st and 2nd visit, found the total
average score of the 2nd visit ( = 66.18, S.D. = 7.63) was more than the total of the 1st visit ( = 45.91, S.D.
= 6.35) was statistically significant (t = 7.652, p <. 001).
Suggestions to the schools and related agencies should had a budget for the purchase of
medicines and medical supplies. The development of personnel responsible for appropriate equipment
and facilities in the nursing room annually, providing statistics and surveillance reports and services of the
